The Minnesota Writing Project is a proud affiliate partner with the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. As the Minnesota Region host of the Writing Awards, we coordinate the regional Writing Awards for the entire state of Minnesota.
Teens in grades 7–12 (ages 13 and up) apply in 11 categories of writing. There is a fee for each submission, but Fee Waivers that cover the entire submission cost are available online during the submission process.

Congratulations to Maddy Dietz of St. Paul, MN, who is the Midwest representative for the 2020 National Student Poets! You can watch Maddy and the other four 2020 National Student Poets share their work in the 2020 National Student Poets Appointment Ceremony video.
MWP congratulates local high school student Ben Lee for his national Scholastic Writing Award! Ben was chosen as one of five 2017 National Student Poets and read his poem at the Library of Congress in August 2017. Read about this award. Ben was also featured on Fox 9 with Leah Beno:
