As the Director of the Minnesota Writing Project, I plan and facilitate summer institutes, collaborate with our network of teacher consultants on developing workshops for K-12 teachers and community educators, work to promote MWP to students and leaders in the educational community, and collaborate with the MWP team housed in the Center for Writing to support the ongoing work of the Writing Project.

I was introduced to MWP as a high school English and Theatre teacher participating in a summer institute and attending workshops during the school year. I later earned my PhD in Critical Literacy at the University of Minnesota, where I have taught writing and literature methods courses and supervised practicum and student teachers in the Secondary English Education program. My research interests focus on storytelling as a site of identity construction and community formation as teachers navigate social, institutional, and personal ideologies.

I am also a dad and have become engrossed in children's literature when I'm not spending time working in the garden, attending theatre, or traveling with my partner.
