College, Career, and Community Writer’s Program (C3WP) is an intensive professional development program that provides teachers with instructional resources and formative assessment tools for the teaching of evidence-based argument writing. Teachers in C3WP learn to analyze student work carefully to determine instructional next steps, and lead their students towards active participation in their communities through argument writing. This researched-based program answers the contemporary call for respectful argument discourse by supporting students in reading critically, exploring multiple points of view, and taking their own stand on important issues.

The C3WP materials include a sequenced and cyclical arc of engaging students in argumentation writing, teacher-created instructional resources for easy adaptation and models for teachers to create their own resources, and formative assessment tools that help educators determine what students can do and where to focus subsequent instruction.

C3WP is most successful when implemented throughout an entire school year and with teams of teachers to support one another in the cycles of instruction. We will meet for four days of professional development in the summer, and four times throughout the school year for assessment and planning. All sessions will be 3 hours long via Zoom. Participants will also have access to personal consultations and online support.
