Sample Portfolio Checklist

Lillian Bridwell-Bowles, English

This checklist helps me to evaluate the entire contents of a student's notebook for a writing-intensive course. I give each student a copy and tell him or her that it will serve as a "table of contents" for all writing done in the course. If we add assignments, I give the students an updated version. I find that the "not found" category saves me time. Note at the bottom that I give a "critic grade" for peer evaluation. The students need to know that I value this part of their class participation.
