Dan Emery

As assistant director of Writing Across the Curriculum, I work with members of the University community to improve student writing and learning in all departments and courses. I provide faculty and instructors with one-on-one consultations about their courses, help to facilitate panels and workshops as part of the Teaching with Writing program, and work with the WAC/WID team to develop and implement the U’s innovative Writing-Enriched Curriculum program.

I joined the Writing Across the Curriculum team in January 2015. Prior to arriving at Minnesota, I served as Curriculum Leader in Business Communication at the University of Oklahoma and Director of the University Writing Center at the University of Utah. I earned my PhD in Rhetorical Studies and a graduate certificate in Rhetorics of Inquiry from the University of Iowa in 2001. My research interests include the history of teaching writing, rhetoric, and writing studies.
