As Teaching Assistant for the Minnesota Writing Project (MWP), a local chapter of the National Writing Project, I work with MWP Director, Muriel Thompson to support K12 teachers’ literacy instruction. My work primarily involves managing communications for the project, doing outreach workshops in a variety of schools in the Twin Cities metro area, and working with teachers one-on-one through their involvement in the Summer Institute.
The work I do with teachers through MWP allows me to bring together my experiences as a K12 teacher in Minnesota and New York along with my graduate studies in Literacy Education here at the University of Minnesota, where I am currently pursuing a PhD in Critical Literacy with a special emphasis on digital writing.
In addition to working with MWP, I also work as a writing consultant with Student Writing Support (SWS). With SWS I work with undergraduate and graduate students one-on-one on a variety of writing projects.
When not wrapped up in writing, I enjoy eating my husband’s delicious cooking and playing trains with my son.
